When the weather warms up, frozen treats are an easy way to keep dogs cool, hydrated, and engaged. Below are safe ingredients, quick recipes, and tools to make summer snacks your pup will love—without the guesswork.
Safe Ingredients to Use
Choose simple, dog-safe ingredients. According to the AKC and PetMD, plain, unsweetened yogurt can be safe for many dogs. The AKC also notes bananas are fine in moderation, and peanut butter is acceptable only if it’s xylitol‑free (AKC).
- Plain, unsweetened yogurt
- Banana, blueberries, or strawberries (hulled)
- Peanut butter (xylitol‑free)
- Pure pumpkin purée (plain)
- Low‑sodium chicken broth
Avoid chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol, and foods on the ASPCA list of toxic foods.
